Here Kasey

I guess Kasey is mad I haven't posted in 4 months, so I shall update. (It's not like I have class tomorrow from 8-3 or anything).
It has finally come. After much anticipation and waiting around and years and years and years ... I am in the last semester of my college experience. The senioritis is quite bad (as evidenced by me writing my blog instead of doing homework). I realized tonight I missed an assignment that was due two days ago and I was supposed to have read a 102 page book by tomorrow. Great way to start the semester no? I think it will be ok though.
Yesterday was my first day at the hospital. I am doing my capstone at American Fork hospital in the Labor and Delivery unit. It was a pretty good day. I didn't realize how much a 12 hour shift exhausts me. We have never had to stay from report to report, but I did yesterday. I hope I get used to it by the end of the semester. I watched/helped with 4 deliveries, 2 girls and 2 boys. I forgot how truly disgusting having babies is, but its still cool. The highlight of my day was probably when I went to start an IV on a patient. She prefaced me with "Just to let you know, I'm impossible to get an IV into. The veterans poke me like 6 times and then give up and call an anesthetist. You can try though. I don't mind being poked. I'm used to it." I said "Oh. Well, I'll take a look, but maybe I'll have Carolyn (my nurse/preceptor) do it instead." Her veins looked fine and then she said "I know they look ok, but trust me the minute you poke it will roll and they can never get a flash." I could continue forever because it is a long story, but I will just say I got the IV in first try, no problems. HA LADY! Take that!
I worked with her a few more times. She told me I was the best and she would write me a recommendation when I needed it. I thought "Thanks, but I will probably never see you again. Congrats on the baby."
I'm still getting used to everything on the floor. I think one of the hardest parts is learning the charting system and trying to figure out what I'm supposed to chart. It is ok though. I have 17 more shifts to learn how. I work again on Saturday.
Well I hope that satisfies you with what has been going on in my life. Other than that, Tyson is in Georgia for Airborne training, but he has his cell phone so we at least get to talk now. I am still a little sick. I got a really bad cold about a week ago and I am still getting over it. I have gotten sick a lot this season. Kasey, I hope you enjoyed. Until next time (probably April)!
Here are some pictures of what has happened since September:

Katie, Kendyl, and I drove out to LA my birthday week to visit our friend Emily and see the sites. I should have blogged about that. It was fun. This is outside of an art museum while we waited for Kendyl's friend.

In the beginning of December I went out to Missouri with Tyson's family to his basic training graduation. It was fun, but there isn't much to do in St. Roberts. We went to a sushi place that was really good, but it made me nervous to be eating raw fish in a state that isn't exactly near an ocean. Again, another thing I guess I could have blogged about, sorry. My life is more exciting than I realized.

It is snowing in Utah. We salted our walkway and shoveled so it would be livable. The sweats in the boots is a great look, I know.
